Mo’s Hitting His Stride
After not scoring in double figures all season, Flint native Morris Peterson has now reached double digits in three of the team’s last four games and is playing his best basketball since an injury cost him much of his season last year.
Peterson scored 16 against Boston Feb. 10, 11 against Indiana Feb. 19 and 15 against Houston Feb. 21. New Orleans, which is just one game behind Portland for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West despite playing without All-Star Chris Paul, won all three games.
Peterson has started seven straight for the Hornets since taking over the shooting guard spot for rookie Marcus Thornton.
He’s averaged 11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists and shot 44 percent from the floor in that span. Those numbers are much better than his season numbers — before the last seven games, he’d been averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebound, .5 assists and shooting 34 percent on the season.
